Rustem Hayroudinoff
Described by Gramophone as “musicianly to the core” and “a true virtuoso” and by BBC Music Magazine as “equal even to the greatness of Richter”, Rustem Hayroudinoff has performed to critical acclaim in Japan, the USA, Latin America, Canada, Russia and Europe. He has appeared with such orchestras as BBC Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, NHK Symphony and Czech Philharmonic, and has collaborated with some of the world’s most prominent conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Marin Alsop and Gianandrea Noseda. Hayroudinoff has recorded for Chandos, EMI and Onyx Classics. His CD of the complete Rachmaninoff Preludes was selected by Classic FM Magazine as part of its ‘Essential Rachmaninoff Collection’ together with the recordings of Arthur Rubinstein and André Previn. The disc of the complete Études-Tableaux was hailed as a ‘benchmark recording’ and became BBC Music’s Instrumental Choice of the Month, as well as being nominated for the Best Instrumental CD of the Year award. It was also selected as the finest existing version of these pieces by BBC Radio 3’s ‘Building a Library’. His latest recording of the music by JS Bach and his sons is soon to be released by Onyx Classics. London based, he has appeared at major concert halls including the Barbican, Cadogan Hall, Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, St John’s Smith Square and abroad at such venues as Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Rudolfinum in Prague, and the NHK Hall in Tokyo. Rustem Hayroudinoff is a Professor of Piano at London’s Royal Academy of Music. Whether it be teaching in an intimate workshop environment or presenting to a full concert hall, he has a rare engaging and charismatic persona which allows him to connect with concertgoers of all ages in a relaxed, informative, and often humorous manner. This informal approach, coupled with his vast experience as an educator, is ideal for capturing younger audiences. Hayroudinoff studied with Lev Naumov at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, with Christopher Elton at the Royal Academy of Music and took private lessons with Murray Perahia. He is proud to be the Goodwill Ambassador for Rainbows4children, an independent foundation that provides education for disadvantaged children in Ethiopia.
